Eisenbrandt can take a 40-year-old view and make it very current. Good photographs. Highly recommended to nurses, VN survivors and boomers.

It is that easy to follow. Ms. Eisenbrandt, some 40 years ex post facto, reminisces about her time overseas. 1969-1970. For those who love very intense military histories, please look somewhere else. For those who want a first person account of a very special year in the life of an early 20s American nurse in Viet Nam, you will not be disappointed. Quite a few photos. They are good. The author tells about her four trips back to Nam over the years. The last one explaining this war to young students from a MO college. Lou seems to be one of those special American heroes that some say no longer exist. I know, being 8 years younger than she is, I was checking the papers daily in my high school classes hoping the darn war would end and end soon. She enlisted. She is very even handed in her opinions of the war. Really takes no stands. Classy. She tells the story from her own point of view and vantage point, and she does a darn good job of it, too!

The story told is one that is not often heard and, as such, should be on everyone's "to read" list if they want to learn what it was like to be in Vietnam. Kudos to Ms. Eisenbrandt for sharing her life with us.
