About the Author
Frank N. Wilcox (1887 1964) was an instructor at the Cleveland Institute of Art and was a central figure in the Cleveland School of artists. Best known for his watercolors of the rural America of his boyhood, his works are represented in leading museums and collections across the country. His love of the outdoors led him into explorations of Ohio's past and much of his work reflects that interest and research.

By Michigan Reviewer Interesting book for those who find Native American history and contributions to present day American society noteworthy. Amazing to me how good the Native Americans were at planning efficient transportation and trail systems without many of the modern tools and methods later European settlers utilized. Many of our state roads today are based on trails first blazed by native peoples. They were that good! Of even more interest, at least to me, were the fantastic illustrations by "the late" Frank Wilcox. Dare I say his illustrations were better than the prose? I guess I just did. Worthwhile for the right audience.
