About the Author Originally from Greenwich, Connecticut, I have lived in the Asheville North Carolina area since 1989. I have a Master's degree in Ecology from the University of Vermont, and have worked as a research scientist, military officer, realtor, lecturer, painter and illustrator. I have also lived in Vermont, Georgia, Korea, Brazil, Colorado and Connecticut before settling down in beautiful Western North Carolina. During my career as a graphic artist, I completed more than 2,000 commissioned pen and ink drawings of private homes, buildings and churches. Distinguished clients include Former President and Mrs. George Bush Sr., Governor and Mrs. James B. He uses his art and love of the area to introduce you to a very unique place. Having lived in the area for many years, the guidebook is written from a local point of view. Lee shares familiar and secret places worth exploring for fun and adventure. Being an artist Lee gives you an experience that is both creative and one you will never forget. You can create a weekend vacation trip or a life time of exploring by using this guide as your GPS. The guide is updated every year for the most current information. Not Necessarily the Ultimate but Not the Worst Either By Miami Gal I did find some useful information about the area but I was not impressed with the overall layout of the book and the advertisements. As thick as the book is - a lot of the information and details were irrelevant to me.It is also too thick and bulky to pack and take with me so I will probably tear out the pages I might want and then toss the remainder in the trash.I suspect perhaps I would have been just as well off buying a Fodors for the state of NC.
