THIS IS AN ARTICLE/ESSAY; NOT A FULL-LENGTH BOOK. I say again: THIS IS AN ARTICLE/ESSAY; NOT A FULL-LENGTH BOOK. Not only that, THIS IS AN ARTICLE/ESSAY; NOT A FULL-LENGTH BOOK. And furthermore, THIS IS AN ARTICLE/ESSAY; NOT A FULL-LENGTH BOOK. If you want to complain that this FREE e-book is not a full length biography, complete with psych evaluations from when Shriver was in the 5th Grade and never-before-published pages from a journal he kept that nobody discovered until just now, I'll remind you that THIS IS AN ARTICLE/ESSAY; NOT A FULL-LENGTH BOOK. Evidently, stating it one time in block letters that THIS IS AN ARTICLE/ESSAY; NOT A FULL-LENGTH BOOK was not enough of a warning for some reviewers, so be advised: THIS IS AN ARTICLE/ESSAY; NOT A FULL-LENGTH BOOK. Jerry Shriver might have led a normal life, and been considered a normal person. Then along came the Vietnam War. It seemed he fulfilled his destiny there, becoming someone Radio Hanoi dubbed "the mad dog." This is what is known about his exploits in-country.

A Heroes Hero By Young 57 My dad never talked about his Vietnam experiences until 2008, but.....when he did the first name out of his mouth was Mad Dog Shriver. I Googled him up and was awed at the exploits of this man, we proceeded to look up things on him and other people he mentioned for the next 12 hours straight.Daddy says he never knew him and was never in SOG, but I'm beginning to wonder, he sure knows an awful lot about these guys. And he was at Ban Me Thuoy (sp?) in the Special Forces from June 68 until May 69.Alzheimer's is now doing to daddy what the NVN couldn't, but until my last breath I'll always remember that night in 2008, when the veil of all he kept hidden all those years came rumbling out at the speed of a flash flood. And the stories of the men he knew at Ban Me Thuoy back in 68-69.Heroes all, but Mad Dog obviously was, in the minds of many, the gold standard of Special Ops warriors during those difficult days. True, the book is only 22 pages, but it is at long last; a book about the "Audie Murphy of Vietnam".A pretty good start, may more books about this incredible warrior spring forth in the coming years.

Shriver for years and yet this three page note is the best anyone can produce? How about someone getting past the dollar signs and bringing this outstanding warrior back to life? The paper was disjointed and sketchy at best. It was like somebody needed beer money and threw it together. So I guess only $0.97 were wasted.

8 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Mad Dog deserves better By Todd A Healy A lot of fluff with little to nothing to do with Shriver. Most of what did deal with him was taken from John Plasters book "SOG" which is a great book and worth the read. Get that, don't waste your time (or 99¢) with this.
