About the Author Martha Cheng is the food editor of Honolulu Magazine. Originally from San Francisco, she's a former pastry chef, line cook, food truck owner, Peace Corps volunteer and Google techie. These days, she surfs, eats and writes mostly in Honolulu, occasionally leaving paradise to explore its other forms.Jeanne Cooper is the former travel editor of the San Francisco Chronicle. She travels frequently throughout Hawaii, writes the Hawaii Insider blog and Aloha Friday column for SFGate.com. She has also written about the islands for Sunset, Caviar Affair and My Table magazines, as well as numerous Chronicle Travel sections, and has contributed to guidebooks on San Francisco, Boston and Washington, D.C. for Fodors, Travel & Leisure, and Time Out, among others. A native of Houston, Texas, she was inspired to study hula by her mother, who lived in Hawaii before statehood.Shannon Wianecki has been exploring Hawaii’s hidden treasures since her “small kid” days. I loved the suggested itineraries, they really helped me plan my time. And the ratings were spot on—we found so many great places through the book (restaurants, beaches, tour operators, you name it). We also really liked the way the book was organized, it was so easy to find what I needed. Add to that great maps (including a really helpful fold out map), great photos and terrific nature information. We had thought we should use "Revealed" books, but a friend who moved to Hawaii told us the locals hate those books because they tell tourists to go to places that aren't actually open to the public. If you're going to Maui and Oahu (where we went), you can't do better than this book.

The book you really need is the series that are specific to each island:____ revealed (fill in the blank with the island you are going to.
