0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A Wonderful, Engaging Story! By Kathleen I absolutely love this book! This story of coming to age is something everyone can relate to. We have all experienced the transition into adulthood and the trials and tribulations that life brings us. The friendship of Jay and Willy is heartwarming and tragic. The characters are very likable and the author makes you feel that they are your family and friends. I was totally engrossed in this story and couldn't put it down. A definite page turner and unbelievable that it is the author's first book! I didn't want the story to end and can't wait for Mr. Nolan's next book to be published.

Ford Madox Ford famously claimed that you cannot read a novel until you've finished it. Obviously he didn't have this novel in mind, but he well might have. The chapters don't use any cheap contrivances like "cliff hangers," but each promises more to come. I just wanted to see what that was. The ending gives a clear sense of completion, a very satisfying sense of integrity. Hope he does more.

I wished there was a little more development of the relationship between father and son, but mostly because that would have made the book longer! I did not want it to end. I laughed and cried and cared about the characters. I look forward to more novels by this excellent storyteller.
