A Look at Island Life from the Inside By twoseals Nobody knows island life like Eva Murray; her books and newspaper columns are favorites of mine and of many people who live in or visit Maine. This is her first children's book, and it's a multidimensional story of an island child who discovers just how special a place he lives. Jamie Hogan's illustrations glow with an inner light (see the picture about the nighttime swim and you'll know what I mean!), and add a quality to the story that no other illustration could. Not only a great summer read, Island Birthday is also a look inside a kind of lifestyle that few of us will experience.
